If like me, you were hoping for more Aurora Teagarden adventures this year, then you’re in luck! Last Thursday, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries confirmed they will be continuing the fan fave series, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. With a prequel movie set to air later this year, 2023.
Based on the books by Charlaine Harris (author of the True Blood book series – see below for my list of her books in the series in order). The popular and long-running mystery series ran from 2015 to 2022 with 18 movies starring Candace Cameron Bure as Aurora (Roe) Teagarden. Aurora Teagarden Mysteries – 2023 Movie
When Bure announced last year that she was moving to a different project, it did seem that there’d be no more new Aurora Teagarden movies. But fellow fans, our hopes have not yet been dashed 🙂 Hopefully this prequel will carry on in the same style with the quirky and fiesty Aurora at the helm! It’ll be interesting to watch her origin story.
The first movie in this spin-off prequel series, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New will follow a young Aurora, after graduating from college returning to her home town of Lawrenceton.
Something New is set to air later this year and stars Skylar Samuels as Aurora, Evan Roderick as Arthur and Marilu Henner reprising her role as Aida Teagarden.

“Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New takes place during Aurora’s (Samuels) post-college days when she finds herself back home in Lawrenceton. While her mother, Aida (Henner), struggles to keep her newfound real estate business, Aurora supports herself by working as a teacher’s assistant in a crime fiction class and waitresses at the local diner at night, where she shares her love of researching true crime with her friend, Sally, and police officer, Arthur (Roderick).
When Sally’s fiancĂ© doesn’t show up at their wedding rehearsal, maid of honor Aurora gets Arthur to help her search for him.
