New on BritBox February 2022: Sister Boniface Mysteries. Starring Lorna Waston, Miranda Raison and Ami Metcalf. A new BritBox original mystery drama for 2022.
Set in 1960s rural England, this comedy detective drama follows the investigations of Sister Boniface of St Vincent’s Convent. Nun, moped rider, wine maker and part-time forensic scientist!
I’ve included details of each episode that has already gone out. I’ll update this list as each of the remaining episodes are released online. For details of series 2, see my post below.
Sister Boniface Mysteries
The popular character, brought to life by Lorna Watson, first appeared on screens in the Father Brown episode “The Bride of Christ”. Created by Jude Tindall (Father Brown) and produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions, the ten-episode series will also see a special appearance from Mark Williams (Father Brown).

The new BBC Studio’s comedy crime drama premiered in the US on February 8, 2022 with 2 new episodes every Tuesday – releasing on online streaming platforms including Britbox, Amazon Video and Apple TV.
And will air in the UK on UKTV’s Drama Channel (Freeview 20) from March 11, 2022 at 9pm. For details of all the episodes in season 1, check out my post below.

Plot: The discovery of a housemaid’s corpse at a local festival puts a damper on Great Slaughter’s jovial gathering. With help from the dashing DI Sam Gillespie and buttoned-up Bermudan DS Felix Livingstone, Sister Boniface is on the case.

Plot: And… action! On a movie set, the drama really starts when what was thought to be a prop gun turns out to be a real .38 caliber.
3. Love and Other Puzzles

Plot: After spending the night with a pipe-smoking gentleman caller, a woman is found dead with a jigsaw puzzle and a face full of cold cream.
4. My Brother’s Keeper
First Released: February 14, 2022 | IMDb rating: 7.5 (144).
Plot: Sister Reginald’s ex-con brother Alfie abruptly shows up at the convent after being released from jail. With nowhere to go, the sisters agree to let him stay. But when a well-known artist is found murdered, Alfie begins to look like the prime suspect.
5. Scoop!
First Released: February 21, 2022 | IMDb rating: 7.7 (145).
Plot: The body of a high-level government official’s secretary is found at the bottom of a staircase – and Sister Boniface claims she was dead before the fall.
6. Song for the Dead
First Released: February 21, 2022 | IMDb rating: 7.2 (157).
Plot: The dreamy frontman of buzzy rock ‘n’ roll band The Queenmakers is found dead in the dressing room, just as they are about to go on for their set. Upon inspection, Sister Boniface finds a peculiar sting on the back of his neck.

7. Dem Bones
First Released: February 28, 2022 | IMDb rating: 7.7 (137).
Plot: Great Slaughter’s annual giant marrow contest is interrupted when a dog digs up some seemingly ancient bones on site. Is it the archeological discovery of a lifetime? Or is it murder?
8. Queen of the Kitchen
First Released: February 28, 2022 | IMDb rating: 7.5 (134).
Plot: Celebrity housewife Prunella Gladwell arrives in Great Slaughter to film a feisty baking competition, and one of the contestants is about to hit her expiration date.
